Lucid Dreams at Night Exhaust Me

let me out - Lucid Dreams at Night exhaust me
Churning of the mind searching for the light of day to escape exhausting lucid dreams at night.

Lucid dreams at night exhaust me

So vivid, the details ingrain

Yet, more authentic than the waking life I traverse,

full of isolating synthetic interactions and ungraspable dreams.

The vivid dreams plant seeds to start my day filled with sadness, questions, and worry that subjugate

my hopes, my dreams for a meaningful daily life

lost to the churning of my mind over lingering night visions and sounds:

01

I see it!

She jumped in the air

her body defied gravity, suspended horizontally midair. Then, splash! She landed in the fountain. I could hear her spine crack on impact.

02

Paralyzed

I rolled over in bed

I followed the homeowner out the sliding back door of his home to see the ocean rising on his land. His home was tilted at the far left corner slipping into the sea

03

Mesmerized by

the ocean creatures’

colors, intricate forms, and graceful movements painting a captivating tapestry of life beneath the waves, I drift into a deep sleep as the house crumbles and folds into the ocean tide

08

Immersed

In an intense dream

I see a man I know shoo away three nosey ladies. I look over two sets of shoulders to view a drawing on the table: A series of twelve circles forming an arch. The woman says, “In just over a month we will be able to capture a picture of the ending.”

My mind churns throughout the day:

What will the ending look like? Why did that woman jump in the fountain and break her spine? Is she okay? What prompted her to do that? Why did that person build his house so close to the ocean? I would have gotten out of there before now. Why did he wait so long? Is there a whole other world below the ocean floor? I hope it is as colorful as the fish I saw when I stood at the corner of that property. Who was that woman drawing the circles and a timeline that would reveal the ending? Why did the man shoo away those other three nosey ladies?

…What is that noise?

Oh, someone is at my front door. Time to be present in this day life, UGH!

“Hello, can I help you?”
